Vietnamese player Nguyen Tien Minh maintained his winning streak at the 2014 Taipei Open Badminton Championships on July 17, defeating Indonesian rival Sukamta Evert and entering the third round.
Minh easily triumphed over his underdog (World No 156) 21-6 in the first game, and was well on course to end the second game 21-16.
On July 16, another Vietnamese player Vu Thi Trang also handily defeated Ksenia Polikarpova of Ukraine 2-0 (21-9 and 21-11) in the women’s singles.He is due to face off with the winner of the match between Lin Yu Hsien and Lee Dong Keun on July 17 evening.
Trang and her teammate Nguyen Thi Sen outplayed their Chinese duo Hsiao Huan Chen and Chia Wen Lai 2-1 in the women’s doubles.
She will meet seed No 8 Hsu Ya Ching of Taiwan in the women’s singles and will team up with Sen for a clash again duo Jang Ye Na and Kim So Young of the Republic of Korea in the doubles on July 17 evening.
